She’s living in a decent apartment with her best friend Alice (cameo by Alia Shawkat), has a job worth waking up for and a cat named Fish who thinks he’s a dog. Her uneventful life suited her fine until one day, she starts seeing childhood sweetheart Matthew (Gosling) at every corner. Problem is, Matthew died 8 years ago. Confused and a tiny bit frightened, she consults Alice and together they attempt to communicate with what she thinks is his ghost. In a twist of fate, Paige accidentally binds Matthew’s spirit with a bystander. That bystander is Noah (Gordon-Levitt), who by innocently passing by Paige’s shop window is now stuck with a spirit that can only speak through him and will do whatever it takes to get him and Paige together so he can spend his last days on earth with her before he is taken away forever.
